@bobbyjoe12s - Never been to Spain in my life.
I'm an Atheist from the USA where at least the
religious traditions here don't involve making heroes
out of excrement.
-
@FrlghtWolf I take it that you must be Spanish then?
-
Almost onomatopoeic. Is there any chance that it could be renamed Caca Tio? This would please my aesthetic sensibilities to no end. :)

-
@Beachman42 The "Caga Tió" is an ancient catalan (north-east of Spain) tradition of Christmas Night when a log "shits" presents for the children with the "help" of strokes of cane and the traditional song specially for it. This tradition, according to the experts, it could be connected to the ancestral traditions about the winter solstice in pre-roman peoples as Celts or Ibers, for example.
-

@bobbyjoe12s - Well, yeah...you've got a point. If only we could get Santa to shit on us! Then we could be the envy of that gutter culture, Catalonia!
-
@FrlghtWolf Yea nearly as bad as a strange old man coming down your chimney and into your kids rooms to give them "presents"
-
Ugh! What an embarrassing culture!

I'ts a catalá tradition from Spain
The point is, it seems that the "tronc nadal" (the piece of wood that you see with eyes, nose, etc) it's "pooing" the presents, he does that because the children are singing that song meanwhile they kick the piece of wood with a stick
Just a funny tradition, sorry for my english, hope you could understand now
