  • hi there, love your videos! I'm just about to have a hugggee trim of my natural hair and start caring for it properly :) but please can you just clarify your point that you made in relation to wearing twistouts regularly. are you saying that you noticed your hair shrunk much more as a relult of the twistouts, or much less? and also, what is wrong with either in terms of it affecting your hair growth and appearance? hope my question makes sense, but pls anyone who knows the answer, pls reply :) x

  • @Yetunde87 hi, thanks and yes totally made sense (workg on an answer vid now) but yes doing twists regularly made mycoils shrink 50% more than usual as seen in that split screen pic. coils will shrink but not that much normally. it took about 2-3wks of wngs to reverse 3wks of twists.

as far as growth/appear i found the longer i stayed away from conditiong (water), the frizzier i was, and can only guess stunts growth based on others who twist more often than not. yrs1-2 i cowashd a min 3wks/mon.

  • What about those of us with excessive shrinkage? I used to love wash and gos when my hair was shorter. Now it's below my shoulders in a stretched out state. So I've been wearing twistouts on slightly blowdried hair. Even twistouts on wet hair shrink at least 90%. When I let it air dry I have a 2 inch TWA. Don't get me wrong it's super defined and gorgeous but I would love the ease of a wash and go without the excessive shrinkage. Any suggestions?

  • @bibliophreak if i answd this already forgive me :) what i learned was the twisting/brading was causing my wngs to shrink 50% MORE over the normal 50%+ shrinkage. i showd a split screen pic (either this vid or part2) after doing twistouts for 3wks straight and after wngs for 3wks. my hair was ur lenght at the time and the before pic is a mini-afro too! im bbs and it still shrinks to my shoulders - go figure - so i roll with it :) gel helps give me more hang tho

  • Cynthia

I want to do ur daily water challenge. So if use on cond to cowash i should use same condn to leave-n?

  • @po3ticphlonaz not necessarily. safest best is to use condrs specifically made for leav-n. i have in the past left deep condrs in (but now it was just a fraction of what i used as a cowash - like a quarter dollop for whole head) but have also messed up trying with others (hello hydration was a big NO NO). whatever u choose (lv-n condr or oils or moisturizer or gels), choose one, wrap up a few min, shake out, style/accessorize. keep it simple

  • i applaud you! wonderful!

  • Your Hair looks sooo good, thanks for all the Tips !!!

  • For some reason, I still don't get what in the world a "Wash n go" is. Maybe, I'm just not paying close attention when watching these videos.

  • @trizzytrix see that Im not the only one to take this stance with my hair. Im going to look at more of your videos and compare our hairtypes and what not cause its kind of hard to see if its the same since yours is so long while mine is necklength when stretched but still a TWA when not stretched. And my coils are lovely as well. Sorry, I'm rambling. But I just want to say thanks for having this channel and reassuring me. I'm 18 now, so when I'm 21, I'd definitely be the BAA talk of the town :)

  • @trizzytrix when they realized that my hair was doing just fine, they let me be. I really was going to start a fokti hair journal or hair account to prove that all of this manipulation isn't NECESSARY for our hair. One combing session can ruin the look of your coils permanently. I'm so happy to see that you have a similar hairtype as me. I have coffee stirrer to pen spring coils, and massive shrinkage. But I'm hoping itl hang more and be big like yours when it grows out. It's also refreshing to

  • Your hair is absolutely gorgeous. I thought I was the only one who didn't think that protective styling, twist outs, braid outs, or even combing was necessary. It's like all of these natural forums condition people to believe that theyhave to do these things in order for their hair to grow and not be tangled, however, I decided to go against that. I BCed for a 2nd time, and have been sporting twas. I wash hair once a week, and only finger detangle too. Everyone thought I was crazy at first but..

  • @Amaspiritartist3 Hi there. Just thought I'd give my 2 cents :) I used to/and again am starting a daily wash and go - fully wetting my head every morning. I did it for many years, all through the winter - and I live in Toronto Canada. You don't get sick from that. And, you're also not leaving the house, with your head dripping wet, in any case :D

  • Just wanted to say that you're the 1st person I've come across on youtube, that does a REAL wash & go. It's what I used to do when I 1st went natural in '91, just because I decided to stop relaxing & cut my hair off. I literally had a twa & conditioned in the shower daily & LOVED the ease & as my hair grew out, I started noticing the coils! Over the years, I've gone back/forth w/ texturizing {it's still a relaxer which KILLS your hair!} now 100% going back 2 a wash & go. Thanks for inspiring! :D

  • I understand you to say that you always fingercomb...I'm going to try that. Do you do wash and gos daily? I don't really see how to do that in the cold weathjer and not get sick...do you actually soak your head in the shower daily?

I am also going to try the baking soda clarification.

Are you saying your hair breaks due to twist outs and knot outs or it just shrinks more?...
