Chris, wow, I'm sorry to hear your story. I don't know what the laws are in NY, but in NV, pepper spray is legal. Get some, legal or not. It really works! I've used it. One shot of that and they are done...out of action, everytime. Security where I work uses it and I've never seen it not work no matter how drunk or high the person was.
