It's good advice re: funds. I did send you something at the end of 2011 - I'll do so again sometime this year.

But this is something I actually get paid to do - I've been a full-time pro photographer 10+ years. It's not the camera - it's knowledge about lighting. You can actually make a huge difference for free if you know lighting.

I was thinking - would you like me to make a video with some pointers? It's not difficult.

Great interview and info. "Authoritarianism and Polarization in American Politics" is definitely on my reading list now.

But I'd suggest working on your lighting for these things. Maybe you're intentionally going for the amateur look, but putting the camera on a tripod and buying one video light and pointing it 45 degrees above the camera and to the right or left will do wonders. This is important stuff, and people will take it more seriously with more serious finishing.
