Full details at http://ideas.4brad.com/hitler-tries-d... There are 100 parodies of this downfall clip. The studio, Constantin Films, has ordered takedowns of some of them. In this clip, Hitler is the producer, and his lawyers tell him why he can't do a DMCA takedown and how the EFF would stop him. He desperately searches for other ways to protect his movie.
Produced by Brad Templeton, who is EFF chairman but releases this video on his own, the video educates about intellectual property issues and parodies the actions of the studio using the very clip they are trying to block.

But for all the others who dont give a dam about history or nazi germany, They got intersted in this movie BECAUSE of these parodies. from football games to obama from cars to michael jackson, these parodies covered Thousands of topics in wich people of all interests are atrracted to seeing a clip on what hitler thinks of their topic. Each time, the viewer is being advertised of the movie "downfall" and creates curiosity in going out to Target and buying the movie.
This is just stupid where these downfall parodies got too.. Now this guys is using his own parody to prove his point in taking them down. BUt he's contradicting himself by using THAT same video and doing what he doesnt want to be done! i love history movies & had this movie in 2004, before the first parody was up in late 07.
Constantin Films has a point: Apparently, I watch the entire movie for free and take money out of their pocket every time I watch a four minute parody of "Downfall".
Unfortunately, Hitler is completely right about Youtube, it has taken down videos that by no conceivable distortion of reality could be considered a violation of copyright. In fact, the whole business is simply punitive... it punishes creativity, and it even punishes publicity, as in the takedown of Susan Boyle's "Wild Horses" by Sony... are they crazy????
Ya know, I would have never thought to see the original movie if it weren't for all the spoofs out there. I'm smart enough to recognize parody as separate from the actual performance of the film.
