@razzletastic - that one will be critiqued for a while, rest assured. Spirit of the game is all fine but I don't see a lot of captains in contemporary cricket who'd do what Dhoni did. Was it needed - not at all. I got the feeling that not all the other 10 were convinced that (calling Bell back) was the best thing to do. We leaked 180 odd in 2 hours after that and the energy was gone. I think, if anything, English booing would have made us more determined

The biggest difference is that England have all their players fit, rested and on the park ready for selection and India don't! Let's get the best XI all fit and raring to go and see who is the best!

While most of us viewers knew this is the series of 2011, I wonder if the same thought went into preparation for this series.
We hardly have the inside scoop on many things but to have no backup offspinner is surprising. Ojha never seem to have left abyone down with his bowling. Ashwin is not a mug hinself. Poor Mishra only fills numbers as an extra when Harbhajan plays. His performance against WI (however weak they may be) is forgotten so soon.

Still some critical comments about Dhoni recalling Bell. It was the right thing to do but notwithstanding the decision. at the time England were 190 in the lead and had six wickets without Bell left, India only made 158 batting last.
The decision did not cost India the game. One can talk to vibe and fight, but had Bell not been recalled I could well imagine the England bowlers giving India a real going over.
Dhoni did well. The game was lost for other reasons.

dhoni says "bowlers are tired having 900+ overs in 2011!" Maybe, if these bowlers were anywhere near worldclass, they will get teams out faster. Dhoni is a master of execuses ... should join Indian parliament or MMS cabinet!

It is not Dhoni's captaincy record that is in question. I think the frustration is with the methods and tactics employed in this particular match
Conceding 55 boundaries in a day is a lot for one...
