Winnipeg needed a new arena in 1996. The Winnipeg Arena had no luxury suites and definitely was not NHL-calibre.
A new arena wasn't built, the team owners sold the team. Pretty simple.
We now have a new arena.
Winnipeg deserves better than this AHL garbage. We're not a minor-league hockey city.

@prototype79 No. Loserpeg does not deserve an NHL Team. Loserpeg had their chance and lost. Two expansions later and still no team in Loserpeg.
However, you can always come down and see the Coyotes! We have those Jets Retired numbers up there in Jobing.com arena. And guess what, no snow on the ground here either! You could even lay by the pool here in December! Enjoy the moose!
