if you're getting technical it's also supposed to be a 15 yard penalty (or in this case, half the distance to the goal line) when the fans come onto the field before the end of regulation (remember the Texas - Texas Tech game a few years back where they got called for it like 2-3 times?), so it would have balanced itself right back out anyway
