I visit with Griffith Park-area City Councilman Tom LaBonge, LAPD Chief Bill Bratton, and LAFD Captain Carlos Calvillo. Also, see what it's like below a fire department chopper dumping tons of water.
This is a report I contributed to Kevin Roderick's LA Observed, an award-winning online journal devoted to independent reporting, selective linkage and informed commentary on Los Angeles and Southern California. It went online in May 2003 and is read daily by an elite audience of journalists, media executives, politicians, authors, bloggers ands others interested in the daily life of Los Angeles. Video editing and post production by Alex Gans. Camera and field production by Thomas Macker. For more: www.laobserved.com
Dude...I ran across your clip on Huell Howser (awesome) and have checked out some of your clips. You're good. Grabbing the police chief is a score. Well done.
Hope you've found yourself with a sweet money gig doing what you do.
And in terms of LaBonge per the two other commenters...he does care about some things. He loves the Park. But he also loves hearing himself talk. Doesn't have the greatest reputation as a legislator. But great at a cocktail party.
