Part 2 of our One Cookie Five Ways Cookie Decorating Series. This video is similar to part one, in that we're just using meringue powder buttercream. However, we start by creating a smooth glazed surface to work on. This is nice in that we get a variety of textures for our cookie.

Be sure and watch the other videos in this series to see the variety of effects you can achieve by decorating with different methods.

Also, feel free to visit http://www.karenscookies.net for lots more cookie decorating tutorials, recipes, and supplies.

Enjoy!

  • Hi Karen, I use a small piece of woman's knee-hi stockings (new of course) to put over the opening of the icing before I put the tip on...it helps keep the clumps from getting into the tip! I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. LOL!

  • @peepthisyall Such a great tip! I do understand what you're saying, and used to do it years ago, but I had forgotten about it. I might have to try that again. Thanks!! :D

  • Hi Karen - have you used textured mats when decorating cookies? If so, what icing do you use? It was recommended that I use a buttercream - but I'd love an expert opinion on what recipe would be the easiest to use. Thanks..

  • @sjdoran Sorry it took me so long to get back to you on this, but yes, you can use texture mats with buttercream, fondant or candy clay. I have videos for all coming in the next day or two. :D
