By early evening Germanys election results were being finalized with Angela Merkel elected as Chancellor for another four years. Subdued celebration at the various government party headquarters was ongoing but on the streets Berlin, there was little fanfare. Either way, the Audi Efficiency Challenge group found there way through the eerily quiet streets to their final days destination at hotel in the city center.
The sixth day of the Efficiency Challenge saw the second wave of drivers pass on the reigns to the third. From the rugged but beautiful Trondheim, Norway to the cityscape of Berlin, the drivers proved not only able to match the fuel economy ratings of their Audis but in many cases far exceed them...
The A3 Sportback 1.6L TDI pulled a best of the day 81.1 mpgUS and set a fuel economy record for the tour. The high-performance sports models were not to be left out as an Audi S4 achieved 30.1 mpgUS.
This segment began on Sunday morning in Copenhagen, Denmark and headed south along the E55 highway. Accompanied by the warm sunshine, the group crossed the suspension bridge connecting Seeland with the neighboring island of Falster. On Falster, the E55 turns into a country road and diverts from the Vogelfluglinie (migratory bird route), ending in Gedser. The town has less than 1,000 inhabitants, but represents an important ferry port to Germany. A Scandlines ship brought the convoy to Warnemünde, taking a little under two hours to travel the almost 31 miles.
