May be brutal, but he is not evil;
He never divided the country along ethnic lines to extend his reign of power.
He never sold/lease land for 100 years to Saudi, China, India, etc. by displacing poor farmers for cheap dollar.
He gave land to the farmers through land reform.
He opened higher education to sons and daughters of poor farmers by introducing affirmative quotas.
He was good intentioned person but misunderstood to say the least.
What is the current government doing to help the poor?

guys dont need to mingle in your issues but ethiopia is a getway into Africa
which makes her so hard to govern for a leader. am a ugandan and i have just come to realize that every one of our leaders is evil but wait who calls them so? who sets them up? i wonder if they is any one leader who wont kill his opponents including God in Bible who told the jews to kill all that which was in canan. so i wonder?

We went from one dictator to another. I don't care for selasie he was a crap. Marcus garvey was right to judge him on his error when he fled to england on italy invasion of ethiopia. He is a idiot. well,,, although i won't take any credits from him for pushing education for everyone... however, i don't have any respect for anyone that is a killer... one can argue he had no choice but i just don't take that for an answer.. there is always ways to stop war or even minimize the number of death..... i think all politicians are nothing better than scumbags. ....
