Geez, it didn't sound like such a big problem in the vid. It's great that you had a spare engine. Keeping the old one for parts would be good hey. The V4 engines are relatively rare, so parts might be hard to come by one day. VF's have the nicest sounding engine of any bike in my opinion, especially when their at full revs. A V4 with slightly warm cams and enlarged ports makes an evil howl. Nothing like it. I've got an FJ1200 now, which is great, but I still miss my VF750.

So what ended up wrong with it? Sounds like fuel starvation. Mine did that once and I found it was the fuel like to the tank was bent so much that it was not letting much fuel through to the carbs.

Turned out I didn't tightened a valve adjustment nut to the correct amount of torque.
It came loose and the a valve broke off. There's a hole in the piston of 2 x 3 cm's. :(
At the moment, I replaced the engine with a different one. Replaced the head gaskets and checked all camshafts and rockers, replaced them if necessary .
Already driven 1500 km on it :) I'll try to make a vid of the current situation someday soon.
