  • Love this theme tune. Takes me right back. King Kev was great at those squatty up and down elbow things on the parallel bars (pissing myself laughing at him crying cos he scratched his leg falling off a bike) although NO-ONE was as good as Brian Jacks. What a man!. lol

  • Actually in the Challenge of the Champions he was soundly beaten by Keith Fielding (1st) and Lynn Davies (2nd)

  • Well I stand corrected Mr Zaw. But I have to say I can't remember any Keith Fielding.

  • See my video of the 1981 finals...

  • Sportsmen were real men back then. Not like the over-paid prissy nancies now with their low-carb, macro-biotic diets and what-not. I can just imagine David Hemery polishing off steak and chips for lunch, running a marathon before getting home on Saturday afternoon to repair something in a shed.

  • 1980s adidas on parade here

  • "Oh! Its a damn bloody shame that!! (Keith Fielding)

It may seem funny now but at the time it was a huge blow.

  • Theme!

  • great bit of music written by Johnny Pearson

  • straight after the "friday big shop" id be layed in front of the telly waiting in anticipation for this music. Big tin of shandy bass and a packet of hula hoops, life was much simpler back then.

  • How on earth did Malcolm MacDonald manage to compete, his knee had gone by then?

  • @welshnick300365 Pride of Marple!
