Where did the C&W musicians meet? Crossing paths at festivals, on the Opry stage, on the Louisiana Hayride, at State Fairs, Truck Stops or at Guitar Pulls in the Nashville area on Sunday afternoons, or hiring into a show. Dusty Rhodes' Band in Memphis often played state fairs with a dozen or more of the Sun boys (Elvis, Cash, Twitty, Orbison, Rich, the Perkins Brothers, The Killer, et al). for $1,000 split between the Sun acts, $2 each per show, who slept on the motel floors and got meals.

The Carter family supplimented the voice of Johnny's so well, especially June's. Together thier voices blend into a angelic symphony unmatched by any duet! Johnny and June are as musically intertwined to perfection.

Jan Howard was one of June's closest friends from her Grand Ole Opry days. (Jan was Bill Anderson's duet partner.) Jan left the Cash touring show in July 1979.(Marshall Grant's book has some interesting comments.)
