Putting sulfur in my cooking oil doesn't sound safe or appetizing.

Actually, I got it, the way you reached the temperature.
This is just a tip I use when eating this kind of meat alone (not in a pie, as a steak). The match lights up and it fires for only a second, so no more than one piec of match, easy to take out with a fork.
Anyways, I'm still hungry.

That is a strange hint Tio, and it does not apply in this case. I wouldn't want to have to fish out burnt pieces of matchstick from my cooking oil. I determined the temperature of the oil by holding my hand over the pan.
The purpose of coating the meat in cornflour was to create a gravy for the pie when the mushrooms were added. The gravy you see at the end of the cooking is mostly made of water. Pie filling needs a gravy to stop the meat drying out.
The final pie was just right, not oily or dry

Oh, just a hint:
When you cook meat in oil, you basically take the water out of the meat and replace it with oil. The more time the meat stays in touch with the oil, the more oil it will have inside of it later. To make this cooking time smaller, you must throw an unlit match in the oil. when it light up alone, the oil is in the perfect temperature to start the cooking. Now you just have to take it out on the right time and you'll have a lighter meat.

The big bowl of dead animals put me off watching this one at first, but now that I have, I feel inspired to baking a pie myself - but of the rhubarb kind. :-)
