I forgot how much energy he used to have - these days, and by god I still love him, he seems to be phoning it in

@camdentube Damn, I always thought it was Trish Bertram!
Back in the States, Letterman's ratings continued to drop since his hosting stint at the Oscars bombed, and Dave's week in London was an attempt to get them back.
Jay Leno also went nowhere ratingswise...that is, until he had on Hugh Grant just moments after he spent some time with a hooker; the rest as they say was late night history.

Johnny Carson was over here in the '70s as well.

"What's the difference between David Letterman and Bernard Manning? David Letterman gets paid a lot more!" - Bonkers "Radio Times" letterwriter, proving that not all British people can take it along with dishing it out.

Oakie doke.
Sky One were showing the Late Show on a day delay at this time, the Letterman trip was seen as being a boost for them, as Dave was really loved by the media at this time.
BBC2 showed this week of shows one week later, and then did a Saturday night dedicated to Letterman.
Trish Bertram? Sounded like Mariella Frostrop to me. ;)

no such thing as 11:45
The show came from London for a week I think in 1995. I'm not sure why, possibly funded in part by SKY who I think were broadcasting the show at this time.
CBS obviously feel bringing the show to a country where the show isn't aired anymore wouldn't really gain them anything.
