This is a famous hotel in Newport Pagnell. It was a coaching inn and its name has been unchanged for about 300 years. There used to be another inn near it, called The Saracen's Head. Also, the nearby village of Sherington has a public house called The Swan.
The town is by the River Great Ouse and there may have been some interest in the name because of swans on the river but the orign of the name is renowned to have been connected to the swan in the coat of arms adopted by the Staffords who were the first Dukes of Buckingham. Also, the swan is a bird with royal protection in England.

  • umm i live in newport pagnell and that is the high street that i go to practically every week and the swan revive is famous cos its very old

  • There's a video on YouTube of some people going to the Swan Revived looking for ghosts.

  • It's more a kind of local fame, I expect, just because people see it a lot as they pass through and would remember it. There's nothing like it - an inn or hotel with graeco-roman style columns on it - practically unique; maybe in London, but it's still remarkable for a country town.
