The artifacts are kindof weird. What's going on there? Need to clamp the dot?

hi ... you're absolutely right. They are weird.
The reason is because of a bug in the depth map comparison( compare pixel depth with the depth map from the light point of view in order to calculate object thickness )

I don't see how this is subsurface scattering. The effect is very weak, but I notice a reddish glow from the lower left.
