An exhibition of installations by Charlie Brouwer at the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts in Boone NC - "Hope Remains Parts 1 & 2" runs Dec. 5, 08 - April 18, 09.
Part 2, in Gallery A, includes a 16'x8'8' tree the artist constructed on site from old slab wood (sawmill scraps) and screws surrounded by thousands of "leaves" cut out of newspapers. The "Tree of Life" whose leaves "Are for the healing of the nations" recorded the biblical book of John's "Revelation" was the beginning point for this installation which also includes a pedestal sculpture titled "Pack for the Journey" and 30 mixed media (wash pencil, crayon acrylic paint) drawings on themes of hope, time, life, leaves and trees.

This is a beautiful show. Very powerful and thought-provoking. Love the house sculptural assemblage and your tree and ladder symbolism. Just beautiful.
