Taken from a 1986 Gala of Young Stars in Frankfurt.

A very young Anne Sophie von Otter sings Angelina's las aria from Rossini's Cenerentola titled Non piu mesta. If i may say so myself, this is amazing coloratura singing.

James Levine conducts.

  • a very young? She was 31...

  • Are you challenging that? How? 31 is a very young age for a singer. Enough with the ageism.

  • She's so perfect, and makes it look so natural. Gosh, and she was only in the begining of her career!

  • So much better than Bartoli !!!!

  • Love this interpretation!

  • She's so natural on stage and makes it look effortless.

  • esta es una buena version de este final de la opera La Cerentola del compositor Rossini, es de admirar, su puesta en escena asi como tambien, su tecnica del las exigencias del bel canto que Rossini escribio para el registro vocal mezzosoprano

  • Ahh, now this is singing...

  • @tenore23 Anne Sofie said that she started late. All she wanted to do was sing in the Bach Choir in Stockholm until she got a scholarship to go to London and she was discovered by Vera Rozca who heard her beautiful voice. And that was it. Look what she has become - one of the greatest ever. She is simply adorable.

  • well 31 in not VERY youg for a singer, it's young. That's when you finally start knowing how to sing, hehe. I don't like singers with wold carreers at 25 and am against it. But 31 is not VERY young. ;)

    I agree: stop with ageism!

Too bad the opera companies want louder, higher, younger....
