  • Sounds like LDS propaganda to me. Thing that bugs me about over-religious people is that they talk like they know - without a doubt - the absolute truth of the world when they really don't. It's just the same as any church or religion ever created - just a belief. There's nothing wrong with believing, but it is wrong to confuse beliefs with facts and truth. LDS Church leaders talk in this way to give a false sense of comfort to people. They don't really 'know'.. they 'believe'.

  • This video series has scholars of many faiths, not just LDS speaking.

We believe that God can confirm truth, thus changing it from a belief to a knowledge.

  • That's true, but it's still in essence, a belief. You believe to know something.

  • I have to admit your comment is a bit confusing. Do you believe that you can "know" anything with surety or is everything a belief that you know?

  • I am currently a single college student, living far away from all my family. I have spent a lot of time alone lately. And as hard as it's been, I am grateful because I have come to better understand the significance of eternal families. I have come to know that God doesn't intend for us to be alone in this life or the next. He wants us to have fullness of joy, and we can't obtain that on our own.

  • (-smile-) You speak as though what you say is fact that can be proven by non-spiritual means.

The only way for YOU to find out is is for YOU to ask God.

Of course you would have to have faith that He would answer in a way you could KNOW, but it may be worth the experiment if you are unsure.

Just a thought from someone who's senses and logic have often failed him, but my KNOWLEDGE of the truth, has never wavered.

  • @tillerGeneric Well, actually, they DO know. The LDS Prophet and Apostles are believed to have spoken to God. Personally. They don't just "believe". They have absolute knowledge of God and Christ because they have seen Them. God speaks to them in person. That isn't belief my friend. That is knowledge.

  • Now all we need are people to learn Chinese to tell them what's wrong with the LDS church. As an avid Chinese learner and out of love for the Chinese people, I think I will brush up to make that initiative.

  • In the past, Chinese members held weekly Sunday School and monthly family home evening. Those were times to talk and share testimony in their language. But as investigators came, it wasn't enough to bring them the fullness of the gospel in a way they could understand.

  • I'd also like to bare witness that Elders Jeffery R Holland & Boyd K Packer are Jesus Christ's Apostles speaking.

  • Thing is; to be in heaven they would have to become un-annoying through the Savior's Atonement and their faithfulness, just like you... and me.

  • In a philosophy of religion class, I found it interesting that the bases was that "you can not know anything you can't verify by the physical senses. (-smile-) My interpretation of my imperfect physical senses seems flimsy next to a direct revelation in my heart of hearts to truth.

  • great

  • There is faith and belief but there is also knowledge through personal revelation. The qualification for an Apostle is to have knowledge of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Acts 1:22) There are men and women on this earth who KNOW.
