Why Mario's faster? In SMB2, SMG, but also in SMG2 it is:

Mario: Normal speed, normal jump, fast stops

Luigi: High speed, high jump, slow stops

Toad: Highest speed, normal jump, normal stops

Princess Peach: All normal, but she can float

@matousekdrizhal Well, actually, Luigi is faster, even though the game is a work in progress, Mario and Luigi have some similarities to the Mario & Luigi on SMB2, Mario has normal speed, and normal jump, Luigi has high speed, and high jump.
