@RobertAH2009 It's a good argument to make or critical observation as the case maybe. I am translating Japanese into English, I am translating my understanding and interpretation of what is called "Gedan Barai" into a functional relationship to a Kata / Kihon form. There is a lot lost in translation but it's MY way of explaining, not necessarily correct or incorrect because it's incomplete, I'm working on it.
Nice video however I think you should stop talking in terms of how does this "JAPANESE TECHNIQUE NAME" get translated to something real and just think in terms of what you want to call what you want to do.
Mind you I am biased - spent some of today revising my syllabus - removing "Kata" and replacing them with "Movement Set #" - OK I'm also going to be changing the movements - why teach 'kata' when they don't teach the movement and defensive concepts that I want to teach...
