The Llangollen Railway held their annual 1960s weekend on the last weekend of July. A mix of steam and diesel ran at the event. The highlight for me was the apperance of Foxcote Manor is a typical 60s filthy look with name and number plates removed. This was achieved using poster paints which is the same technique used the weather model engines. Locations are Llangollen, Carrog and Glyndyfrdwy.

Locos shown:
LMS Black Five 4-6-0 No 44806
Class 47 No D1566
GWR Manor 4-6-0 No 7822 Foxcote Manor
'BR J94 0-6-0T No 68030'
Wickham Class 109 DMU

  • Yeah that isn't a patically good 60s gala. You'll need Black Fives, 9Fs, V2s, B1s, Class 47s for a good 60s gala.

  • Can't say I've ever used poster paints to weather one of my engines....still, this is a much better 60's Gala to what we put on at the Great Central, Turkish 8F's? And one in EWS Red? Hall's in GW livery? 1450 on TPO drops? Llangollen get the right idea....perhaps one day I'll be able to weather one of our 12"/foot scale locos, haha.
