@asaidsam I agree (and Waris says) that this is a CULTURAL practice, not a religious one. However, religions are not to be "respected," they are to be feared. They all ask people to accept things without evidence (they call it "faith"), and their books (the Quran, the Bible, etc.) have incorrect information in them about how the world was created, how to determine your own fate, etc. And those are NOT cultural, but are in fact, religious practices.

one thing most peple dont know that till the beginning of the 20th it was a practice in europe and america (i think there also) to "heal" women who where nervous ... if you wanna know sth bout that theres a litle bit in the film klitoris - die schöne unbekannte ... but its german ... sorry bout my english ;)

@afrity Oh yeah and it IS a practice totally AGAINST Islam. It is a very disturbing cultural practice, stemming from ...Africa, I believe.
JUST TO CLEAR THINGS UP:
Female genital mutilations IS NOT PERMISSIBLE in Islam and is never prescribed or ordered anywhere in Islamic texts and traditions.
If people in Muslim countries do these horrific acts, it is from their country's culture, not from the religion.
