Rat Rods, Hot Rods, Customs at Bonneville Salt Flats

Man we're up here in New England and I can't bear to watch those cars drive through the salt water.

I'd love to check out the salt flats one of these days.

Hi!

Im from Massachuetts originally. I feel the same way about driving on the salt, even wiithout water your vehicle takes a beating. The salt collects and builds up like sticky snow all under your vehicle.

The salt builds up like snow under your vehicle and hardens. To get it off you need to preasure wash. The salt then gets into all the small openings and wires. If you drive through the salt water it is even worse. I spend hours at the preasure washer in Wendover cleaning my RV. Even after all that cleaning you still find chunks of salt falling of months later. The salt and related problems it creats, rust, brake problems and electrical problems are the worst part of going to Bonneville.

I agree. Driving through salt water is bad news. Whatever vehicle you take on the salt is damaged. My first motorhome rusted to death.
