Yeah that's going to come out the sides. Combine that with a conductive thermal paste and you have a recipe for disaster.

@doceigen funny you should say that, because in all actuality, YOU are the troll, whether you realize it or not. I'm trying to save people from the idiot advice you keep giving on here. like putting paste on both sides and spreading it with a razerblade?! youre not mortaring bricks here you fuckin retard, its a computer. go back to building your walls and GTFO youtube. your going to ruin someones motherboard and/or cpu with that crazy shit

I use thermal paste that comes with a brush (Zalman makes it) i can easily keep a thin layer with that stuff even though Arctic Silver is the best of the best.

The correct method according to engineers is to put a small round pea sized amount in the center of the CPU heat spreader (if it is directly on the die then use an amount the size of a SMALL grain of rice)... As the heat sink is pressed on it will spread to cover the CPU die area under the CPU die heat spreader. This method will produce the cleanest contact with the least air pockets and paste overflow.

what he said was, you have to cover the entire cpu down, but what he ment to say of course was you have to cover your entire cpu and motherboard.

@jurassic512 o.O so just use a bigger pea... like sweet pea instead of baby pea lol. most of the heat is in the center anyway, so its not a big deal if you dont get to the very, very corner. i see what you're saying tho

the best method i've seen on recent quad cores at least, was to draw two short lines across the IHS.
Is it just me or does this guy sound like paul from newegg?
