@hhm123m I realize that history isn't in vogue lately, but if you research a little, you'll discover that Normandy was more lightly defended than other landing areas thanks to deception by OSA and American intelligence. As far as attacking at night, it was virtually impossible with the tech at the time to coordinate the air drop of thousands of paratroopers as a nighttime op. Normandy was equal parts perfect timing by the invading forces and blundering by German defenders.

This morning c-span radio spelled out exactly the casualty count in Iraq after a few were killed by rockets this weekend, but then reported the D Day anniversary without noting that more people died on one day at Normandy than in eight yearsw in Iraq.
