Matthew Sweet performing "Sick of Myself" from 1995's "100% Fun" on some red-haired guy's old talk show. I don't remember where I got it...

  • Matthew is a genius. This is probably from what is his best album 100% Fun. I travelled around Spain in 1996 and listened to this every day. It was great. It is a real strong album like Murmur. I love it.

  • I think this was the drummers first gig - I dont think Ive ever seen a drummer so happy.

  • kinda shitty live...as always..love the studio version though

  • Or maybe it was just the way it was in the grunge-influenced '90s? Even the popsters felt the influence of Seattle's volume? Not every band could pull off a Monster, as R.E.M. did. Sweet needed to dial it back and play to his strengths and sensibilities.

  • Interesting comment -- I LOVE most of Sweet's recorded material. But the one time I saw him, at the University of Waterloo back in the '90s, I was so disappointed. He was way too loud, to the point of being unlistenable. Which was a real shame -- I'm not sure but he may have had some of those great players with him (Quine, Menck, etc.) -- all for naught! I thought maybe he had a bad night, or the campus soundcrew was crap, but perhaps it's actually Sweet himself?

  • Squirl.

  • Love this song, but....he needs to stay in the studio, cause he SUCKS live!

  • great song!

  • I've been looking for this performance forever. I saw it back in '95 on TV, always remembered it being on Leno but I guess I was wrong. Happy day.

  • isn't that Conan O'Brien?

  • Richard Lloyd is TEARING it up! I love this guy's music!

  • FUCK YEAH! Matt and Conan!
