@SmallvilleSoraKent Ramsley is not real Haunted Mansion charcter, you know. He is imagined for a movie. Emily fallen from the top of the mansion, cause she lot her sanity.

Emily is just the Disneyland/Disney World/Tokyo Disney version of Melanie, with our Ghost Host, Master Gracey, as The Phantom. As opposed to a bitter father, we have jealous seer, Madame Leota, who not only lusted after the Master & did in his circus mistress Lillian (by convincing her to do her high wire act over a pit of crocodiles), but who also conceived illegit. daughter, Little Leota. We also have axe-brandishing potential mother-in-law Constance, whose hubby is The Hatbox Ghost, probably.

Melanie is Phantom Manor's bride. Her story is more concrete. She was set to marry, but her father didn't like her suitor. He ended up telling his daughter that the suitor died (which he did, by hanging & there's 3 guesses as to who did that, as the father was a wealthy snob who lost everything). Grieving, Melanie refused to believe it until she herself did. The Phantom is actually not the bitter father, who died suddenly, but the lover whom Melanie was to wed (see the Sing-along-Songs video).

@Beshrewed: But Master Gracey still hung himself, so Constance cannot have killed him. If anything, Connie wed The Hatbox Ghost, leaving Master Gracey with in-hiding Emily (I say in-hiding, because her heartbeat is still faintly heard in the musical scoring & because no spirit once attached to the Mansion can leave due to its curse).

@SmallvilleSoraKent: Ramsley only existed in the movie, where Emily was rechristened Elizabeth. In the actual Mansion, there are various ways as to how Emily died. She may have died by being locked in the attic trunk by a jealous Leota during the Master's game of hide-and-seek, she may have being thrown out the attic window (her ring originally left an imprint there), or the Master himself might have accidentally killed her in a fit of madness after being told lies about her unfaithfulness.
