A view of the new 600 bed LA County Hospital and the old LA County Hospital. Taken on Nov 26th 2008. The LA County Hospital is one of the few hospitals in the country that has OR open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. It has a level 1 trauma center.
Two of my siblings were treated for cancer here back in the 70's and 80's... both did not survive... When we lived in L.A. I could not drive pass this hospital for years. I would have anxiety attacks. Seriously. Whenever I go back home to visitt, I still have issues. They treated my brother for leukemia, when he actually had hodgkins lymphoma. Too late to save him Sis got an infection in her cath, and it spread to her lungs. She was gone in a week.
I wish i could go to this new hospital.. I use to go to kaiser when i was younger.. But i no longer have medicare.. I been suffering from anxiety attacks since i turned 18 im 24 now and i still get them.. Ppl tell me to go to this new hospital but im freaking scared.. My anxiety basicaly controls me :( i really wanna go though.. Really looks nice in there.. Hopefully soon.. Im afraid of hospitals and anxiety attacks dont help.. Thanks for the vid.. Appreciate it.. Got flu.. But scared to go :(
I'm not too sure of how they do it at County USC, but at USC University, it's great! After I think 75 hours, you can get a letter of recommendation. You also then get to go in with the surgeons and view an surgery after so many hours. Then for every 4 hours you work, you get a free meal (up to $6 worth of stuff). Their food is great. It's a great hospital to volunteer at. Because of volunteering, I'm actually going to school to become a nurse. I enjoy working in the pre-op unit.
wow! Interesting! I volunteer at USC University and got a chance to go into the new one....however, never got a chance to get past the first floor in the old one......thanks for posting this!
