Ok, I just got through reading some of the previous comments and I'd like to say that when the live action film is made it will be based on the books not the animations. Hideyuki Kikuchi has said as much. The animations are very different from the books. Having said that it would be Count Mayerling not Meier Link. And remeber folks, nobles are perfect, tall, and beautiful so lets keep that in mind when choosing who plays who. I continue to stress, an "unkown" to play the part of "D". :)

Being that I am a HUGE fan of Vampire Hunter D I would prefer that the part of "D" be played by un "unkown". Picking a well known actor will immediately have high expectations by D's audience and may cause it to flop. Putting an unkown may give it a better chance. Any other role can be played be known actors that can bring in the fans. :)

If they make the first book into a live action movie, they should cast Christopher Lee as Count Magnus Lee since the Count was named after Christopher!

. . . ALL HIS PICKS WOULD RUIN THE MOVIE!!! They really wouldn't make a good D. D isn't a vampire either!! He is a dhampir, ok. Read the books, not the f!@#$ing mangas (I like them too), or the two movies they made. I know a 17 books is a lot but if you took the time to read 25 pages a day, you could read all the books in 6 months. Since D looks to be 17, maybe a younger actor?
Please prepare the next time you want to rant on youtube. Try not to say umm or like etc. so much next time.

Okay, I've watched 15 seconds into it and I have to stop you right there... KEANU F*ing REEVES as D?!?!?! WTF?! *hyperventilating* What an insult to such a wonderful character, how dare you! D:< Honestly, no actor could ever faithfully portray D but if I had to chose it would be Gaspard Ulliel.

@Tordah90 I concurr with the two choices. Acting? Sure. But the makeup artists would have to work hard to make him cold and somewhat effeminate looking to keep up with the story. So that guy he said would make a good villian...Rei Gensie? The werewolf (manga and original book is different).

Well actually my simpleminded friend and thats putting it lightly in your case.
