This word problem is something that you will very likely see in one form or another. It involves two cars, trains, boats or whatever traveling from the same point in two directions 90 degrees from other. This means that when they stop moving, the line from one of them to the other will form the hypotenuse of a triangle. The problem is solved using the Pythagorean theorem.

This very type of question is probably found on 95% of all ACT Practice Tests, because it is so frequently seen on the test.

  • This might also be useful. (And it relates back to your first video). That specific triangle is also a 10-24-26 triangle, multiplied by three. So the hypotenuse is 26*3, or 78. This might be a little faster if you have no calculator. I have noticed that a lot of ACT practice tests use triangles like that (3-4-5, 10-24-26), so it might apply to a real test too.
