This clip from CBS 60-Minutes program is noteworthy for its poor understanding of US role in introduction of Islamic "Jihadi" concept in Pakistan as well as the complicity of the Pakistani Establishment in using the "Jihadi" network to wage a proxy war with India in Kashmir. The Taliban insurgency in Pakistan represents a powerful backlash by the Jihadi network against the Pak State on account of its reversal of pro-Taliban and pro-Jihad policies under US pressure after 9/11.

  • PART V:

The status quo would have continued but for 9/11. That tragic event forced a radical change in American thinking and turned its attention back to Afghanistan as well as on terrorism in general. Pakistan was thus forced by US to abandon its support of Taliban government in Afghanistan as well as to begin dismantling its Jihadi-Islamic infrastructure. Not surprisingly, the Taliban as well as participants of Jihadi infrastructure both reacted violently to change in Pak policy.

  • PART IV:

Now, it is an open secret that Pakistan's identity is rooted in strong anti-India and anti-Hindu policies. (This is a sad legacy of the partition of the Indian sub-continent in 1947). So, the Pak Army took over the Jihadi network and began to utilize its recruits to fight a proxy war in India in Kashmir. At the same time, it facilitated establishment of an Islamic fundamentalist (ie. Taliban) government in Afghanistan to provide "strategic depth" in a future war with India.

  • I can never understand this country. How could it possible that the most corrupted leader is now the president of pakistan. Lol

  • Its better for Pakistan to get take over by Taliban. Taliban will kill all those corrupt politicians and will impose the correct Islamic law inside the country. They will remove the interest banking system which is fruitfully flourishing inside Pakistan.Pakistan army is not winning the war as talibans are ready to die.

  • Taliban is the ISI army they will be defeated by the Afghans living in the both side of the ( illegal) Durand Line. This is the truth the rest is nonsense.

  • first of all, bitch zardari killed his wife, everyone knows it. Even his own party. Second of all, that Kuta, is just a figure head leader. We all know the reall power in pakistan comes from COAS.

  • what is wrong in being an atheist? Specially when the existence of so called GOD has not been even remotely proved.

And yes I am a hindu.

  • in view of all that happening, I hope you are intelligent enuf to not add another tag to Islam - that of racism. Unless of course you are a RAW/

    Mossad agent! :)

I have no problems with Pak having an Islamic character; I have serious issues with it being in Islam state. Do you understand the difference? As an analogy, European and North American societies have a Christian character, but they are not Christian countries. They are secular with strict separation of Church and State... on account of having suffered horrific Church domination and exploitation. Similarly, Islam must be reformed and Muslim states must adopt Enlightened thinking.

  • @KashifHKhan I beg to differ. Societies are based on ideologies and atheistic or secular ideology is very different from Islamic ideology. Now Pakistan is a country whose 97% population is Muslim and Islam asks its followers to implement Islamic Laws, so if the Muslims would be following Islam, they would definitely try to establish an Islamic state. On the other hand, the secular or atheistic people would oppose this, so I think it is not only a personal matter, but has a collective effect!

  • Let me make this easier for you: (a) I am of the opinion that belief - or disbelief (ie. atheism, agnosticism) - is strictly a personal matter; (b) the state has no business policing faith or restructuring society in the name of faith; (c) equal rights should be provided to all citizens irrespective of their race, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation; and (d) "progressive" educational, social, and political policies that build on Reformation and Enlightenment should be introduced.

  • @KashifHKhan I'm sure that you are an atheist! aren't u?
