At our 101st National Convention, we had the pleasure of having our First Lady, Michelle Obama address our members around the issues of Childhood Obesity.

The NAACP has taken a national stance around Childhood Obesity in the African American Community due to the alarming and rising rates.

Furthermore, research has shown there is a correlation of being overweight during childhood and adolescence increases the risk of developing chronic diseases such as Heart Disease as an adult. And according to the American Heart Association Heart Disease and stroke are the No. 1 and No. 3 killers of African Americans in this country. February is American Heart Month and the NAACP is launching a new Program with Coke Foundation entitled Project H.E.L. P to promote healthy living, and lifestyles in the African American community.
We are also partnering with Donna Richardson Joyner to launch the Presidents Fitness Challenge in our communities.

The NAACP wants our communities to take back their Health and we will start with one family at a time!
