In the last few days I was bored out of my mind. I literally sat around doing nothing useful. Suddenly I stumbled across a DiRT clip and then I remembered the menu system of the game. "I can do that" I thought, and this is what I made in 10 hours of work, trial and error, and rages.

Comments appreciated. Will be moved to scraps when I'll upload a new version.
(I named it DURT on purpose. I wanted to name it DUST but I completely forgot about it. Might fix this in a later version)

  • Also, sorry for double posting, but how did you manage that blurred out effect? I tried using a radial blur from off-white to black in photoshop, but the gradient isn't smooth. There are a bunch of odd colors in between transitions of color.

  • @Endgame901 I did it all by myself, no tutorials used. However the closest thing I can suggest you to look for is camera rig tutorials for easy camera management. As for the blur - if you're talking about the arrows then it's the camera aperture and depth of field. If you're talking about the blurry edges, it's simply a black solid which has an elliptic feathered mask on it

  • @VgJono00 yea I meant the blurry edges. Thanks for that, I got it all worked out. Actually, my computer was still in 16-bit display mode because of an emulator I was running. Silly me.

    Thanks for the help, VgJono00

  • @Endgame901 Sure, you're welcome.

  • What did you make this with, if you don't mind me asking?

  • @Endgame901 After Effects, also some photoshop.

  • I'm sorry, but I can't find anything that seems to concentrate on the basics. Everything seems to want to show me how to copy a specific effect, which would be nice if the effect was this one, right?

Know any good sites for basic After Effects tutorials?

  • Reason I ask is because I wanted to make a mockup of a mutli-emulator frontend using this menu design, and I really wanted to see about animating it.

Can you possibly point me towards any tutorials that might show me how to do certain things in this video? Maybe describe certain aspects of the video in technical terms I can google myself?
