BSc Body Science Rapid Growth protein has also been formulated to contain high glycaemic index carbohydrates, which stimulate the release of the hormone insulin. Insulin is a hormone that may reduce muscle breakdown after exercise and stimulate muscle protein synthesis when adequate amino acids are available. Therefore the combination of high GI carbohydrates with a rapidly absorbed protein will create a physiological environment that simultaneously reduces muscle breakdown while stimulating muscle protein synthesis.
