Tony Blair, former British Prime Minister, embarks upon his "impossible" task of helping to bring peace to the Middle East. The nature of the widespread conflicts in the region is long-lasting and historically rooted.

It's a truly daunting task which Mr Blair has set out for himself. The history of the search for peace in this part of the world is littered with failed attempts.

Will Tony Blair be any more successful?

With his success at guiding the parties to peace in Northern Ireland, he has highly regarded skills.

I sincerely hope he can use them to best effect in this great quest.

I have a blog called - and don't laugh, please - Keep Tony Blair for PM - to be found here:

Please feel free to visit and make a comment if you wish. But be warned - I only print the positives here. Negatives remarks are to be found so fulsomely elsewhere on the internet as regards this man, who I consider one of the greats in recent British political life.

  • It looks as if Tone might become the first European President.

    Good Luck TB!

  • Sadly, fabdrabcrab, it wasn't to be. Instead we are stuck with ... er ...Somebody or Other.

I suppose some will say that Blair's New Word Order mates let him down this time.

    ;0(

  • He's the Middle East envoy, NOT the PM/President/leader any more. This is a diplomatic job. How many of the previous Quartet envoys can you name?

Since we don't see him on TV these days (more's the pity imho) why do you assume he is Israel's Mr Fixit? Many in Israel assume he is the Palestinians' Mr Fixit.

Looks like the whole process will now come to a grinding halt anyway, since Tzipi Livni can't form a coalition. I assume you think that's Blair's fault too?

    Complain when Netanyahu is in!

  • Hmm...mmm

He might be safer there than in his own party right now. See my blog on this.

  • Is it me, or is this the same Tony Blair who helped launch an illegal war on Iraq at the behest of a neo-con warmonger in the White House. Not sure how this is going to help him in his quest for peace. wake up and smell the coffee

  • Your question deserves an answer - yes, it's you!

    Sorry, turnipshead. But you asked.

  • Hi BlairSupporter. You're right, his political hooneymoon has finally ended. He claims he delayed elections because he has a vision of change.I believe that if he wants us to see his vision of change he should seek a mandate for it and I do not see his point. What is his vision of change? Is there a need for change? What does he believe went wrong?Iraq though it is a controversial issue? He's a jerk and is rude and reckless. He just tries to erase Tony from people's memory because he still fears him!

  • Good Lad Tone!

Good luck for the future and THANKS MATE!!

  • Middle East Peace Envoy? Anyone seen him lately on tv. He's more like Israels Mr FixIt.

  • Hey! Blair can give Israel advice on how to turn the Palestinians into people who have to scrape through bins for a living... send GORDON BROWN to help them!

  • Actually he solved peace in Ireland so why not the Middle East???

  • Thanks, Lizzie. Wish I had time to make some more. Keep watching - you never know.
