Brownish-Grey Fishing Spider (Dolomedes Tenebrosus)
Feeding video and hand held pictures.
All video and Pictures were shot by me.

Makes for an awesome pet. Much different than holding a tarantula, these may not be AS big. But they are big, and extremely fast. Let this thing run up your arm :)

  • Cool video! I recently brought a female tenebrosus home and hope to get similar footage. She's still really shy (hiding a lot) but my hopes are that she'll get comfortable soon. She did, however, create an eggsac on the second day so that's gonna be interesting. In a couple of weeks I'm going to have a few hundred of these. :D

  • @warley1111 Thanks a lot. If you get any footage up, let me know.

They produce eggsacks even if they haven't mated. We had two Females, and both of our spiders still produced and eggsack, but they never mated and the eggs never hatched. The spiders don't realize though. They literally carried it around for weeks until it got tired of it and it strung it up in the cage by web. lol.

Hopefully your spider mated before you found it, baby tenebrosus spiders would be cool.

  • Some people have cats and dogs for pets. I can't personally see myself getting too close to those teeth!

  • @jonfromwinnipeg

Lol. I have a dog too. I just like spiders.

Upon researching this spider. I have not found one person that has been bitten by one. I even found a picture of a women that was letting one crawl on her forehead! (I wouldn't do that one)

  • @trumansnare Where was the forehead picture, or was there a video?

  • Beautiful specimen! Tenebrosus is a bit smaller than okefinokensis looking at the video, but they are just as attractive. Nice photos :D I miss my female D. okefino, she died a few months ago. :( Had to be at least 2 years old.

  • @trumansnare my brother has been been bitten by a female species of dolomedes here up in northern minnesota. they get huge in the boundary waters, i used to obsess when i was a kid with capturing them and observing them, and i had one in with a cricket and my brother went to pick up the cricket and it attacked, and bit his right index finger, he screamed and cried it swelled a bit then 20 inutes later he was fine with only two little punsture marks that were red.

  • found one in my wood pile, bout shit my pants
