Hi. I'm Lorie Marrero and today's Clutter Video Tip is about simplifying your housekeeping routines by making some better choices up front. First, let's talk about kids' clothing. When you're choosing clothing for your kids in the store, think about dark clothing versus white [POP] or cream colored clothing. You're going to spend a lot more time pre-treating stains and dealing with the laundry itself rather than being able to spend that time playing with your kids. Also, with children, you want to think about -- especially if the kids are of the same gender -- maybe purchasing certain types of clothing, like underwear or socks, in a way that will make it easier for you later when you're folding and putting clothing away. For example, I had two sons, so I would buy one kind of socks and both boys could wear the socks, it didn't matter who they belonged to. And then with their undies, we had two different brands of underwear and I knew that one son wore one brand [POP] and one wore another. So, I didn't have to spend time when I was sorting and folding, looking at sizes to tell the difference between who it belonged to.

You also want to think about this for yourself. When you're shopping for your clothing, look for items that don't require dry cleaning, items that don't require (POP) ironing, so that you can save time and actually a lot of money with the dry cleaning by getting that more low-maintenance [POP] clothing.

Finally, you want to also think about this with your furnishings in your home or if you're going to be doing some remodeling, [POP] you might want to chose dark colored upholstery and definitely don't get white carpet and things like that, so that you won't be worried about it and stressed about it all the time. It'll stay cleaner looking and you'll be happier.
