Here is a clip from Sen. John McCain's remarks to a Vets for Freedom rally in Washington, D.C., April 8, 2008, just ahead of Gen. David Petraeus' report to the Senate Armed Services Committee on the situation in Iraq.
Someone please tell me... if vets detest wars (which I sincerely believe they do), why would they want to send their sons and daughters to fight a war in Iraq that had NOTHING to do with the attacks that preceded that war?
The war we launched in Afghanistan against Bin Laden, the Taliban, and Al Qaeda makes sense. We were attacked and we had a target for retaliation. Ok... that makes sense
But this mentality of "Mr. X attacked us, so lets go beat the piss out of Mr. Y" is crazy.
I don't mind people disagreeing with this war thats your right as an American. But do not come on here and spew out false facts about this war, your 80% of Iraqis out is BS and you need to get your facts straight. The truth is the majority want us there because they know if we leave their country will go into chaos because were the piece holding it all together right now and were the ones helping turn their country into a democracy.
I have helped get people to send cards to the troops in Iraq and have met several Iraqi war veterans. The U.S. is not winning the war in Iraq. General Petraeus cannot be expected to tell the public that the U.S. is not winning the war since he would be fired by the President. 80% of Iraqis want the U.S. out of their country. We need to respect their wishes since it is their country and not ours. What if 80% of Americans wanted another nation's troops out of our country? Democracy rules.
Lol you are either deaf or stupid. No one hates war more than those who have served and been there and I know that doesn't include you just another liberal couch potato. When you have been there and lost brothers in arms then open your ignorant mouth until then don't speak on something you know nothing about.
