Cherry had a terrific voice. I'm curious if was an entirely "natural" singer or whether he had vocal training as a youngster.The fact that he could handle most songs in the pop genre with such ease may have actually hurt his career because most of his singing lacks what I call "dramatic tension," for the listener there's never any doubt that he is going to hit each note pretty much perfectly. I wonder if he ever stretched his limits by singing classical stuff or the more difficult popular songs.
