This guide will show you how to setup your own hotspot using a LinkSys WRT54GL wireless router and also using the services of HotSpotSystem.com.

In the 1st part we'll replace the default firmware with DD-WRT.

  • n310ea: it's 'Let's Take a Ride' from Norman Brown.

  • coolerdude44: You will get 70% of the end user income (you create the prices for your system). You can even get more if you can generate lots of transactions.

  • Videos have been updated for those who are using DD-WRT v24.

  • For those who asked: the girl is from New Zealand, that's why she has this accent.

  • The default Linksys firmware username/password is admin/admin. The username and password for DD-WRT changes to root/admin after install.

    Just a note.

  • its "root". password is "admin". however, i think that you can leave the username empty..

  • Does this router works with xbox live?

And whats the diffrnce between WRT54G and WRT54GL (L=Linux)? Plz help.

  • i cant understand what the username is... can some1 say it pleas, i need it very hard!

  • So cool my rooter with the custom firmware

  • What's that jazz song playing at the begining of the video?

  • Hmmmm, I'm from Australia and that doesn't sound like a NZ accent.... maybe she spent a few years in Scandanavia....

  • The reccomended router to use for HotSpot System is Linksys WRT54GL, any version can be used (1.0 or 1.1) but obviously the 1.1 version has slight hardware fixes from Linksys though the main difference was the firmware version which in our case does not matter because we are replacing it with DD-WRT.

Just a note, version 1.0 of the router has two rows of LED's and 1.1 has one row (less LEDs), people commonly get confused when they see two images of the same router.
