Here we show you how to seat cannelured bullets and apply a proper crimp. The cannelure is there to give the brass a place to recess into when crimped. Do not over crimp, if you do you can deform the bullet. Dont use a roll crimp on a automatic pistol case, use a taper crimp.

  • I learned a lot from these videos, but I found them difficult to view. The lighting seemed to be on the other side of the press, leaving heavy shadows on the press and dies. These videos could be greatly improved by focusing more light on the front of the Press. A close-up of the dies would of been very helpful too. This is not a complaint, just suggestions from a very interested viewers feedback.

  • All our current videos are shot with lights and in HD.

  • Ammosmith, it looks like you set up the crimp and the seating depth in one operation, am i correct? i find that most reloaders like to do the seating and crimping in two steps. I've heard that its better to do the later do you agree, im a bigginer and just curious about this.

  • Some dies have ithe crimp is a crimp die. I do both in one step.

  • Is it OK to put some oil/grease into the press' grooves into which the die screw? Mine makes too much unpleasant noise. My reloading buddy rubs a candle into the grooves. What's your opinion? Is there a detriment? Thanks.

  • I use white lithium grease. The only drawback it it collects dirt. I use a old pillow case as a press cover.

  • I just started reloading and i have been running into trouble with the seating and crimping. It seems to be crimping prior to seating, causing the case to crimp into the grooves then dig into the lead. any advice?

  • @ammosmith But not well.

  • anyone trying to learn to crimp here would be really confused , most dies come with instructions , with rcbs dies it is like 2 steps done , i have never had trouble crimping with rcbs or dillon with no seperate die

  • My G-D son, what are you trying to do in this video? Keep it simple please. Too much complex technique.

  • the key to seating and crimping these bullets is to trim all the cases to the same length and then set your bullet seating die.crimping is done with a factory crimp die seprate operation for the best results
