  • @AndyHarglesis 430? really? i benched that in high school at 185 pounds. i bench 725 now. DRUG FREE. AND WHO CARES IF THEY JUICE? i mean honestly no one cares. people pay to see the biggest guys lift the biggest weight. it is what it is doc

  • @flowride68 Yeah man! Anyone who squats real weight and wants to get stronger should be doing box squats more often than regular squats. It greatly improves speed and power coming out of the hole. All bottom work is necessary. You can easily incorporate these into 531 after your main lift, even on deadlift day. These idiots posting here don't understand the importance of wide stance squatting and posterior chain development(from calves to traps). They think squatting is a quad exercise. Hahaha

  • Moto head and Nippon you both are idiots, they do "Olympic" squats for competition,. They do box squats and other variations of the squat in order to emphasize certain aspects, glutes, hams, hips to strengthen themselves in environments that are more difficult than the actual competition themselves. Plus a legit squat should emphasize the glutes, hips and hams, not quads. Which is why they squat 800+ and you squat 315, if that.

  • I've actually incorporated these into my squat days, performing them after my Wendler cycle. 5 x 10 at half my max squat weight. I realize that some folks do these with higher weight/lower rep schemes, but I like them as a change of pace after "traditional" squats. I believe they're helping with explosiveness on my back squat.

Also, I've been recommending these at a lighter weight for folks suffering from the "navicular drop," as box squats encourage better form.

    Thoughts, opinions?

  • is it me or does it sound like there's a seagull in the background

  • At the guy saying no quad development, lol. That is because to squat properly you use hams Glutes hips.
