At the head of a jungle train in the state of Kelantan in Malaya, Malaysia. The old 22 class was brought into Malaya in 1971 from England, UK, built by the English Electric-AEI consortium with mechanical parts from Metcam. Its engine thrash sounds similar to the BR Class 20 as it uses the EE 8CSVT MkIII engine, a similar engine one generation newer than that used on Class 20 (EE 8SVT MkII engine).

Enjoy!

  • How heavy is a class 22 loco, BMalaya ? Around 85 tons ?

Its good to see that at least 22115 and 22127 are still going, now with EMRAIL.

  • @stimpy719 90 tons.

  • But after 40 years, can 22127 still work actively as in the past or is it just a few more years left ? What has become of 22115, Kuala Lipis ? What is the safety load that Class 22 can pull ? Is it about 600 tons or less . Thanks.

  • @stimpy719 With the appropriate replacements, it could haul up to 1,000 tonnes, if memory serves. 22115 is slightly older than 22127. 22115 is currently with EMRAIL in North Malaysia, as is 22127.

  • Its truly a great diesel locomotive but very sad that Class 22 is no more, except 22115. But 40 years has gone by and there is not much railway engineers can do to keep Class 22 going. Maybe build some new ones like Class 22 with more power and improved technology.

  • @stimpy719 22127 is still around, waiting for spares I heard.

  • i wonder if there are any diecast metal scale miniature Class 22 and Class 24 diesel locomotives that I can buy. Not electric train sets but actual models of these KTMb locomotives, thanks.

  • Nice video. We had a Bo-Bo version of this loco in Northern Ireland

  • The sound from the engine is similiar with class37 from British Rail !!.

  • @terryleejameson

The title of the song is "Something Stupid "......played either Paul Mauriat or Frank Fourcel Orchestra .
