Churchill Square = shit hole

Brighton and Hove seem to have common sense here as you would not seem the likes of Stagecoach, First or Arriva doing this. I think all heavy vehicles should be made to fit chains on the driving wheels in bad weather like this.

@sparkygl0s i'm finding the same problem i want to use them but i don't want no doo gooders reporting me

As far as I am aware it is only illegal to use chains when there is insufficient snow to stop them damaging the road surface. This is the advice given by companies who sell chains, e.g. Halfords. A quick Google search shows that there is a lot of uncertainty on this subject. I don't know where to find a definitive answer.

@sparkygl0s i know this but isn't there a law banning snow chains in GB thats why you can only have textile snow chains (nylon)

I don't understand your comment. This is alarming, as your profile says that you are a teacher in the UK.

Thank you.

Its only illegal to use chains on roads which are not snow covered. This is because they can damage the road surface. In practise this makes them very impractical if you are back and forth between snowed in minor roads and cleared main roads.

@sparkygl0s Great comment!
If all local busses were fitted with chains they could keep running in snow. A lot of people would then leave the car at home and get the bus. This could reduce the congestion we get every time it snows.
