What a relief to hear you man! all i hear is nonsense and fanboy comments all over the place, is annoying! About the good old Charly, i think he has the best sounding snare single stroke ever! is both dry and short but with a lot of air and sustein....hard to explain but no wonder you (anyone) had problems trying to emulate his "simple stuff". Neil Peart... i wont say anything about him, just about me : i don't care about his drumming, though i suppose he bringed some new things to the table

True, there is too much respect for technical drummers but there are other kind of drummers (as the ones named here)...more subtle and less flashy, but with an amazing sense for music, atmosphere, etc. making a comparison with guitar players...you have steve vay, and bb king...give me bb king every day!...but that is just me.Anyway, i like a lot this drummers like blackwell, Coleman, etc too....everyone contributes to the drumming knowledge in some way or another...except travis baker (joke)
