i believe also in the first movie they were dead or (dead sleeping) from the poisonous berries they ate.

its weird though because in the first film they were alive in the boat and in the second movie they changed it so they were dead in the boat. I think that they should have left it the way it was with a happy ending of them all being together alive. They made it that way so they could make a second movie
